To end a perfect day, 14 year old Susie in the Pavilion lets herself go, and enjoys a cat mint experience!
There are usually around 15 cats living in the Pavilion. These are older and more difficult to home cats who are able to spend the rest of their lives with us.
Happily some do find homes and four were happily rehomed last year.
The sponsorship scheme is run to help with the upkeep and care of the Pavilion Cats (see sponsorship page).
You can sponsor an individual cat or the whole group and will receive a certificate and photograph plus quarterly Paws & Claws newsletters.
If you would like to be a sponsor please contact us via the website or by ringing Lyn, the sponsorship secretary on 01444 459464
Annual Open Day 2012
Sunday 15th July
Our thanks to Lyn, Jan, Geoff & Wendy for the pictures above
From our Chairman
The sun shone for the Paws & Claws Annual Open Day on Sunday 15th July! After months of heavy rain and a cancelled Spring Fair we were delighted to welcome members and supporters to see our cats, enjoy tea and home made cakes and shop at our many stalls. We were also pleased to see so many familiar faces and chat to those who have re-homed cats from our Rescue Centre.

Holly, our oldest resident, aged 25 held court as visitors queued to see our Golden Oldies in The Pavilion. This building is the permanent home of cats aged 15 and over whose owners have died or are no longer able to look after them and no one wants them. There are about fifteen cats at a time and a sponsorship scheme is run to help with their care. More information on the Pavilion
As always, a big thank you to the team on refreshments and all the cake makers for their wonderful baking. The stall holders, also, pulled out all the stops, offering plenty of good things for sale, beautifully displayed. The gazebo team did a sterling job too, setting up the event in not the best weather conditions - but on the day there wasn’t a drop of rain.
Our new 4-pen Isolation unit has now been built and we are in the process of fitting it out ready for use in the next two or three weeks. We were able to take people to look inside and hear our plans to put it into operation. Donations are very welcome to help with these expenses.
Music has become a feature of our Annual Open Days, so our thanks to Raye du-Val on drums and Peter Willson on keyboards who entertained us all afternoon playing some wonderful jazz and to Linda Francis who sang some great numbers with them.
At the end of a very busy weekend and everything cleared away it was lovely to see all the cats settle down after their tea. What better sight than to see them snoozing in their outside runs to enjoy the warmth of a quiet, summer evening.
The demands on our time and resources are huge and unrelenting, without our faithful sponsors, members and supporters we could not care for so many cats in the way we do, so a big thank you to everyone for coming along and spending lots of money.
Lyn Basset, Chairman
