Open Day 2019
Saturday 20th July
Our thanks to Lyn for the pictures
From our Chairman
The weather was glorious for our annual Open Day and we were pleased to welcome 157 people through the gate. We got soaked putting up the gazebos the afternoon before, and lay awake that night listening to thunder and torrential rain wondering if we would have the cancel the event, so it was such a relief when the sun came out mid morning.
By the gate, was the popular plant stall which as always was very successful. This ladder formed part of a large and colourful display of all manner of good things for sale and our thanks go to all those who donated plants they had grown for us.
Doreen's stall is always popular and also the cards and calendars stall, and a number of people treated their cats to items bought on the catmobilia stall. As ever, the black cat tombola board tempted lots of people to win the good prizes on offer and the raffle was also an attraction. The books and toy stalls were popular with all ages and there was always a queue at the refreshment tent. We are grateful to all the amazing cake bakers who supplied so many tasty things.
As it was a hot day, it was good to sit under the oak tree in our Memorial Garden to enjoy a cuppa, something to eat and chat the shade.
And of course seeing our cats is always popular so the homing blocks were always full of people looking at those currently in our care.
The Trustees enjoyed the opportunity of meeting and talking to as many visitors as possible and to hear about some of the cats they adopted from us.
Our thanks to everyone who came to support us so generously, and to all those who worked so hard to put the show on the road.
But the star of the show has to be our Macavity who celebrated his 21st birthday! He is such a loving cat and is seen here enjoying the admiration of some of his fans.
