Welcome to our web site

We are Paws & Claws Animal Rescue Service a small cat rescue charity, founded in 1977 covering the Mid Sussex area. We have many lovely cats looking for adoption who would love a new home.

We hold many fundraising events during the year and attend many others throughout the Sussex area.

Cat of Courage - Cocoa

Her beautiful eyes and gentle, friendly nature belie the ordeal she must have been through.

Cocoa had been a stray for a while and on being brought to our rescue centre was given a thorough examination, firstly to ascertain if she was microchipped. She was not and no one came forward to claim her as their cat.

Further examination showed that she had two lumps that were rather worrying and clearly causing her discomfort. A scan revealed she had been shot with an air gun, and a pellet was found imbedded in her neck. The lump in her abdomen was a hernia. Cocoa underwent surgery to remove the pellet and repair the hernia and is now back with us in good shape and awaiting a new home.

This stunning little cat is 6 years old and now has a bright future ahead of her and we are looking to find someone to adopt her. Despite the trauma she has been through, Cocoa is trusting, affectionate and loves the company of people - and enjoys a good chat. She deserves a safe and loving home where she will be cared for cherished for the rest of her life, and we hope that is very soon.

If anyone would like to contribute towards Cocoa's treatment and care you can do so online through PayPal or by sending a cheque payable to "Paws & Claws" F.A.O Mrs Lyn Basset, Coombe Down, London Road, Sayers Common, West Sussex, BN6 9HZ

Life in the Pavilion

After the excitement of Christmas life in the Pavilion has settled down again. Thank you to everyone who gave presents (and turkey scraps) to the cats as well as those who donated funds to help them.

For those, who don't know, the Pavilion is our special facility for long-term resident cats - those that are not easily rehomed.

We try and find suitable homes for all the cats that pass into our care but sometimes it just isn't possible.

However many cats have left the Pavilion to go to new homes, it has just taken a little time for the right person to come forward.

In the meantime they can live out their lives with us, receiving all the care and attention they need, so long as they have good quality of life, in our vet's opinion.

You learn about our resident cats here.

You can help support the Pavilion by becoming a Sponsor or by making a one-off donation below.
