Best wishes for a happy Easter

*** The area we cover ***

Please be aware that we are a small locally based charity and, however much we would like to, we cannot practically assist in homing cats outside of the Mid-Sussex area and a reasonable distance beyond.

*** Updates ***

Whilst the current situation continues please check back here for updated information particularly concerning our events and all other matters.

*** Cancelled Events ***

Unfortunately none of the events we had planned for this year have so far taken place.

We have now reluctantly decided to cancel the Book Fairs planned for 16 January 2021 and 20 March 2021. The next Book Fair will now be on 15 May 2021.

*** Rescue Centre closed ***

Our Rescue Centre is closed to visitors until further notice.

Please do not telephone there with homing queries as we do not have staff available to deal with them.

For all enquiries concerning adopting a cat please telephone Val on 01903 244478 and leave a message if she is not available.

Welcome to our web site

We are Paws & Claws Animal Rescue Service a small cat rescue charity, founded in 1977 covering the Mid Sussex area. We have many lovely cats looking for adoption who would love a new home.

We hold many fundraising events during the year and attend many others throughout the Sussex area.

COVID-19 Update

We have been kept very busy at Paws & Claws during the difficult past months of the pandemic but are now even busier.

As the nights started to draw in, getting colder and darker earlier, we began taking in more strays than ever. Some of these cats are no longer young and all have needed neutering, plus some have needed much more expensive veterinary care, before they can be found a new home. We have also had many sad cases of cats being brought to us in need of TLC and veterinary treatment.

It is good that they are safe, warm and well fed with us and we will do all we can for them though we have lost all the income we would have made this year, as we are unable to go out fundraising and it's uncertain when we will be able to resume.

We are very grateful, as always, to our loyal supporters who have kindly donated money and food to help us through these unprecedented times, so we can continue the work to which we are dedicated.

Medusa & Muffin

The two cats pictured are among those you have helped to support. MUFFIN (13) and her mother MEDUSA (18) came to live with us in September 2020.

Mum is deaf and partially sighted, her daughter is very much her carer and they are very close. Medusa is also hyperthyroid which is not unusual at her age. They are part of our sponsorship scheme.

Life in the Pavilion

For those, who don't know, the Pavilion is our special facility for long-term resident cats - those that are not easily rehomed.

We try and find suitable homes for all the cats that pass into our care but sometimes it just isn't possible.

However many cats have left the Pavilion to go to new homes, it has just taken a little time for the right person to come forward.

In the meantime they can live out their lives with us, receiving all the care and attention they need, so long as they have good quality of life, in our vet's opinion.

You learn about our resident cats here.

You can help support the Pavilion by becoming a Sponsor or by making a one-off donation below.
